Work has finally begun on a town's brand new arts centre this week.
The Arts and Cultural Hub in the St George's Centre in Gravesend will be the base for creative activity in the area.
Cllr Shane Mochrie-Cox (Lab), cabinet member for community and leisure, said: "The council is committed to expanding Gravesham’s arts and cultural offer. I have long supported the opinion that arts and culture enhances our lives and environments.
"This space will enable the creatives amongst us to show off their skills and indeed encourage others to unleash their creative side."
The centre will host 2D and 3D exhibition space, digital installations, workshops, and drop in sessions to meet the artists.
Cllr Mochrie-Cox added: "I am also very excited to see how local artists bring a flavour of Gravesham’s rich heritage and diversity, and in turn create exhibitions to reflect our community.”
The hub will offer co-working space to creative organisations and business who wish to base themselves in the town.
It comes as part of Gravesham council's arts and cultural strategy which aims to create a thriving artistic scene in north Kent.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of November.
