The London Resort is meant to be built on the 535-acre site on the Swanscombe Peninsula, between Gravesend and Dartford, but no work has begun yet.

The company says all energy needed by the park will be generate on-site with low-carbon and renewable technologies such as solar panels, which will help towards the resorts goal of having net zero emissions.

Pierre-Yves Gerbeau, chief executive of London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH), said: "The London Resort is committed to using low-carbon energy to power our park.

"Through working with EDF Energy we are exploring new and innovative ways of making the resort as sustainable and environmentally responsible as possible.

"This is a top priority for us, as it will be for our visitors long into the future."

Vincent de Rul, director of energy solutions at EDF Energy, said: "We're looking forward to working with the London Resort to create a bespoke low-carbon energy solution for one of the UK's most exciting projects.

"This opportunity is unlike anything else currently being developed and this gives us scope to do something new with the latest technologies available."

In June the park agreed a new deal with Paramount Pictures, and have already signed deals with the likes of the BBC and ITV Studios.

The project, which would rival Disneyland Paris in scale, would also see a number of hotels - among them a Radisson Blu, following an agreement signed in August.

The London Resort was also previously boosted by the arrival of PY Gerbeau, the man credited for turning around the fortunes of the Millennium Dome in London.
