Plans for an entertainment hub, which could attract the likes of Putt Shack and Ninja Warrior, for a shopping centre have been revealed.

Bluewater, in Greenhithe, near Dartford, has put forward proposals to convert 10 shopping units into leisure facilities with space for restaurants and bars.

It has submitted a planning application to Dartford council for the change in use of the former Topshop, Animal and Monsoon units in the Upper Mall level of the Rose Gallery and Winter Garden.

The scheme also looks to convert premises currently occupied by River Island, Clarks, Fat Face, Apricot, Vision Express, The Entertainer and Snow and Rock – although it is not yet clear what will happen to the shops are approved.

If given the go ahead, the 10 units will become four and cover more than 6,500 sq m of floor space.

The submitted planning and leisure statement states the aim is to broaden Bluewater’s appeal to its customers and allow it to “respond directly to trends and challenges within the retail market”.

Although operators have not yet been confirmed, bosses think the space could appeal to the likes of Puttshack, Flight Club, Hollywood Bowl, Nintendo World, Ninja Warrior and Go Ape.

The planning statement added: “The leisure element could comprise of uses that include interactive and immersive games; sport activities; family entertainment; or soft play.

“A number of these uses are often termed competitive socialising where there is a mix of leisure and food and beverage uses.”

If approved, bosses say the scheme would “enhance the destination feel of the Winter Garden”, bring between 100 and 200 jobs and improve the shopping centre by bringing vacant units back into use.

A Bluewater spokesman said: “We are always looking at how we can add new and exciting additions to the line-up at Bluewater.

“We hope to be able to share more details about future plans for the centre very soon."

It comes after another scheme was approved last month to erect a huge air dome on one of the chalk cliff site’s car parks to be used as a football-themed, family entertainment centre.

It will include a full five-a-side football pitch which can be sub-divided into two smaller ones, a small food and drink area, a retail area to buy merchandise and a number of football-related skill games.
