A young artist has sent his work to the Prime Minister alongside a letter asking for all teachers to be vaccinated.

Jeevan Virk, from Gravesend, has written a letter to Boris Johnson that’s being delivered with help from Gravesham MP Adam Holloway.

The nine-year-old has been drawing and painting various pieces of art which he eventually wants to sell 10 copies of each to raise money for charity.

However, the Riverview Junior School pupil took it upon himself to write to Boris Johnson about his feelings regarding teachers and the Covid-19 vaccine.

His mum, Kulvinder Kaur, said: “Jeevan loves school and he has been really upset about how much school has been disrupted because of the virus.

“Because of this he feels strongly that teachers should be vaccinated.

“Jeevan is a big fan of Boris Johnson. He’s watched him on the news throughout the whole pandemic and he likes how the Prime Minister has helped the UK. He was shocked that he suffered with the coronavirus himself.”

The 52-year-old NHS responder added: “Jeevan is an artist, he has drawn a portrait of both Boris and Sir Captain Tom.

“When I explained to Jeevan that I could help him send the letter in the post he was worried that it would get lost.

“So we decided to write to our MP, Adam Holloway, to see if he would help and he agreed to meet us outdoors in a safe environment to collect the package.”

Jeevan and his mum met Mr Holloway at the end of February.

Kulvinder said: “Jeevan has asked for Boris Johnson to vaccinate teachers in return for the portrait he has sent him.

“He brought the picture frames with his tooth fairy money and even typed out his letter just in case Boris couldn’t read his writing.”

In his letter Jeevan says: “I have a request please, so that I can make sure that all the teachers get their Covid vaccines done in the next couple of weeks so that children can get a better learning and schools can continue to stay open because I love school.”

He also added: Please keep hold of these portraits, they will be worth a lot one day when I will be famous.”
