Traffic was queuing for four miles after the A2 was closed due to an overturned truck.

All lanes have now been reopened after the incident on the London bound carriageway between the Cobham turnoff and the A227 Tollgate Services turnoff at Gravesend.

Congestion stretched back to the Cobham turn off by the Inn on the Lake, with journey times estimated at 25 minutes at its worst. Delays are now easing but three mile queues remain.

People had been seen leaving their cars as traffic ground to a halt, while the road was closed to deal with the incident.
