Police still baffled by death blaze
00:00, 16 April 2003
DETECTIVES and fire investigation teams are still trying to find out if a man who died in a house fire started the blaze himself.
Paul Jackson, of Ifield Way, Gravesend, was found dead in his home by fire crews who were called to the fire on Friday.
Despite attempts by the fire brigade and paramedics they were unable to resuscitate Mr Jackson who is thought to have been in his mid 40s.
After finding no one else in the house a search began to try and find Mr Jackson's wife, Coral, and her teenage son Daniel who were also living in the house. Following extensive appeals by the media the pair were found safe and well.
A spokesman for the Fire Brigade said: "Both the fire brigade and the police are still investigating the cause of the fire and it may be some while before they have a definite answer."
