A quad bike rider has photographed doing a wheelie on the A2 at speeds of apparently up to 60mph.

The pictures were posted on the A2/M2 Traffic Updates London/Coastbound page on Facebook this afternoon.

One of the pictures clearly shows a rider without a helmet seemingly doing a wheelie along the carriageway.

The incident happened on the A2 at Pepperhill, near Gravesend earlier this afternoon.

A fellow motorist took the photos and put them on the social networking site.

The images caused most people following the post to condemn the action with many saying it was foolish.

Jace Burr posted: "Gonna get a serious case of road rash if he comes off!"

It comes after another shocking picture was posted on Twitter earlier today showing a car passenger hanging out of a car window travelling along the M20, apparently travelling at abut 50 mph.

Kent Police said it the incident has not been reported to officers.
