Chalk dog walker Tom Clubb's terror as pet is 'ripped to shreds'
00:01, 01 October 2015
A man’s evening dog walk ended in horror after a vicious bull mastiff pounced on his ageing collie cross and “ripped it to shreds”.
Residents rushed out of their homes to the sound of screams as Tom Clubb, 55, frantically tried to pull the aggressive dog off his 10-year-old collie-cross Cassie.
The brutal attack left the pet with severe facial injuries.

Mr Clubb, of Lower Higham Road in Chalk, called 999 but police said they could not visit him until the following evening – something Mr Clubb described as “unacceptable”.
Mr Clubb, a transport manager, said: “I was walking my 10-year-old collie-cross down the same road I have walked her every day for the last 10 years.
“I saw this bloke come down the road with a bull mastiff and within seconds he pounced on her and started ripping her to shreds.
“I screamed and caused so much noise in the street that people were coming out of their houses to try and help me get the dog off.
"The dog was latched onto her for at least a couple of minutes. In 30 years of working for St John Ambulance I have never seen so much aggression. Her eye was hanging out by the end of it.”
Mr Clubb rushed to the vets from the scene in Chalk Road and Cassie was due to have surgery yesterday morning after suffering cuts to the face and an injured eye.
He added: “I phoned 999, but the police couldn’t give a stuff.
“I got a text message from police saying they wouldn’t come out until between 9pm and 10pm the next night.
"There is a dog on the loose with the taste of blood and our police force won’t come out until the next day.
“I haven’t slept all night. I’m so angry by all of this. I want to know what they are going to do about this.”
A dog attacking another dog is not a criminal offence, however, it is the owner’s legal responsibility to keep control of their pets if they are a danger to the public.
A police spokesman said: “Officers are making inquiries following an incident in which a dog was reportedly injured by another dog.
“There were no injuries reported to the owner of the injured dog or anyone else.
“The incident was reported to police at around 6.20pm on Tuesday, September 29.
“An appointment has been made to speak to the owner of the dog.”
