Mounds of household waste and building materials have been dumped along a footpath.

The fly-tipping off Granby Road, Northfleet, is being investigated by Gravesham council’s environmental enforcement team.

Officers went to the site on Monday (April 22) to examine the waste and are following up on several lines of inquiry.

Huge piles of rubbish have been dumped along the path, which runs between Crete Hall Road and The Hill, behind metal fencing.

Kent county councillor for Northfleet and Gravesend West, Conrad Broadley, said it was a common problem along the path.

The Conservative representative said it happens almost once every other month and suggested cameras could be installed to deter offenders.

He added: “There is quite a lot of fly-tipping in that area but the council is good at coming down and clearing it.

“It is quite frustrating that people keep going down there. It is very disappointing.

“It is a constant problem. Sometimes as soon as a pile is cleared, more comes the week after.”

Items such as cardboard boxes, Christmas decorations, pillows, a clothes horse, electricals and general paper waste have been littered.

Further along, several piles of corrugated roofing have also been fly-tipped.
