A primary school has expanded to welcome more pupils than ever before after high demand for places.
Ebbsfleet Green Primary School, based at the Ebbsfleet Garden City, can now take on 60 pupils in its nursery and reception classes.
It is double the number of places it could previously offer children in the local area.
Having opened in September 2020 with just 52 pupils in its first year it now has 226 pupils from nursery to year 4.
Ebbsfleet Green Primary opened an extra Year 1 class after having a full waiting list for more than a year and has moved form single-form entry to two-form entry for nursery and reception pupils.
Headteacher Kelly Garrett said, “We’re growing quickly and were delighted to be able to welcome even more children through our doors this year in response to high demand for places.
“We will continue to grow year-by-year, eventually to a fully two-form entry school, as the Ebbsfleet Green community grows around us.”
Ebbsfleet Green resident Anthony McGregor-Clarke said: “We are delighted that our daughter has been able to join the school this year as we have always wanted her to attend our local school.”
While Liam Stone, who has children in reception and Year 1, said: “It was great news to find out that the school were opening a second Year 1 class and we are so pleased to be part of the school community.”
Daughter Harper Stone added: “I am excited to see my new classroom and meet new friends.”
Ebbsfleet Green Primary School is part of the Maritime Academy Trust, a charitable education trust with schools across Kent and Medway, Bexley and Greenwich.
Chief executive Nick Osborne said: “This is great news for families in the Ebbsfleet Green area. It means that more children can attend an excellent primary school on their doorstep.
“We are really excited to be working with the local community to jointly create an exceptional primary school that serves their needs.”
