Bronte School in Gravesend opens despite snowfall

12:00, 28 February 2018

A school in the town braved the weather and opened as normal after it was deemed safe.

Bronte School, of Pelham Road, Gravesend, was one of the few schools not to close due to the heavy snow fall today.

Pupils at the school didn’t miss out on all the snowy fun that other children who weren’t in school had, as they took part in snowman building competitions, igloo construction and singing songs from Disney’s film Frozen.

Head teacher, Emma Wood, arrived at school early to assess conditions on the school’s premises before considering how many staff could safely make it into work.

Mrs Wood said: “Many school staff was able to walk into school, thereby allowing parents to drop off their children.
