A secondary school was put into lockdown this afternoon after trespassers were spotted in the school grounds.
A parent said Meopham Secondary School, in Wrotham Road, Meopham, sent out an email following the incident telling them they had instigated lockdown procedures as a precaution.
Kent Police were alerted. A police spokesman said: "At 1.21pm, Kent Police received a report that two boys had trespassed on the grounds of Meopham School, Wrotham Road, Meopham. The boys have now left the area and officers are making inquiries into the circumstances."
One parent, who asked not to be named, said she'd heard from her daughter that pupils had been told to crouch under tables and stay away from windows.
She said: "My daughter was crying and sobbing, she was so frightened."
The school has been contacted for further comment.
