Missing Sarah Wellgreen from New Ash Green may have been picked up or left on foot

Police are becoming 'increasingly concerned' for a mother that has been missing for nearly two weeks.

Sarah Wellgreen was last seen in the Bazes Shaw area of New Ash Green in the evening of Tuesday, October 9.

Hundreds of residents from the area helped officers conduct a search of woodlands over the weekend in an attempt to find the 46-year-old.

District Commander, chief inspector Tony Dyer, has now issued a statement thanking the public for their help and suggested she may have been picked up.

He said: "We are increasingly concerned for Sarah who was reported missing almost two weeks ago.

"She has not been in contact with her family and her car was left at her home address. It is possible Sarah left home on foot or received a lift from somebody.

"My officers are conducting ongoing inquiries with residents and businesses which includes the examination of CCTV footage.

"The search continued in the area over the weekend and I am very grateful to members of the local community who gave up their time to assist us.

"I would urge anybody with information that may help to contact us. If you think you may have seen her but are not sure, please do not hesitate to call the appeal line and let us know."

Her son Lewis Burdett, 22, came back from Portsmouth after his mum's disappearance and is staying with friends in the area.

This morning Mr Burdett said he was very grateful to everyone who has helped search for his mum.

He said: "I'm really grateful to everyone who has taken there time to share the post about my mum around all of the UK and further.

"And a massive thank you to every that has participated in the search of the local area it mean a tremendous amount to me and my family, we are so happy with the way the community has come together to help and support us."

A man was arrested on Tuesday, October 16, in connection with the missing mother and was released on bail, pending further enquiries, until Friday, November 16.

Miss Wellgreen is a white female, of medium build, around 5ft 7ins with green eyes and straight brown hair.
