A 'Spiderman' burglar broke into a flat above a takeaway - but got away with nothing after climbing through a tiny window.
The offender - described as being like the comic book character because of the way he got inside the empty flat above Masum's Indian takeaway in Gravesend - was captured on CCTV hanging upside down.
But his actions are certainly not heroic.
It is thought the same man had tried to break into the premises in Rochester Road on the previous two days - first trying to get into the kitchen through the back door and the second time he set off a light sensor and the police were called.
Takeaway manager Amin Islam said: "I think he broke into the flat because he thought he could then gain access to the kitchen to get to the takings but he couldn't."
The burglar is seen on CCTV climbing through a small top window. He shimmies head first down down the glass to reach a window ledge before wriggling his way inside.
Amin said: "People who have seen the CCTV have are surprised how he got through such a small window. It is unbelievable how he managed it. He is like Spiderman."
Once inside, the burglar keeps his face hidden. He turns on the lights and has a look around but leaves a short time later empty handed by climbing out of the same small window.
Amin added: "We are lucky he couldn't get through into the kitchen or he could have got to the till.
"But he could do it to someone else. He needs to be behind bars.
"Someone will know who he is. We have had so much support from people about the break-in. People are saying this shouldn't have happened to us and he needs to be stopped. We have been here for 20 years and everyone knows us."
The business has asked anyone who recognises the man to get in touch with police. He was wearing a grey Armani tracksuit top and bottoms with white trainers and black gloves.
Police have been contacted for a comment.
