A police-mad youngster got a visit from officers – but for all the right reasons.

Isaac Taylor has been working on a project about policing as part of his home school lessons. He has been out on once-a-day patrol in Meopham, in his own dress-up police uniform.

On Friday, he saw a police car. Two PCSOs pulled over, put on the blue lights and offered him a tour of the station at a later date.

Then Isaac's mum appealed through Twitter to see if any other officers would answer some questions.

She tagged numerous accounts – and Scott Dawson, Special Sergeant from Kent’s Special Constabulary responded.

Not only did he answer questions, but treated the boy to a visit too.

Yesterday, he tweeted: "Signed on a little early today. A lovely lady has reached out via Twitter explaining her son absolutely loves the police! So I thought what could I do to bring some happiness to his world right now! Now on route to surprise him, whilst adhering to the social distance guidance!"

Sgt Dawson headed to Isaac's home and drove past, briefly putting on the vehicle's blue lights and blasting the siren.
He also talked to Isaac about his role as a Special in the Rural Task Force.

The excited youngster waved as he drove past.

Sgt Dawson later posted: "It was an absolute pleasure surprising little PC Isaac this afternoon. Being able to answer some questions he had, and a quick photo!"

Isaac's mum Amy Taylor said: "He absolutely loved it. He's loved the police since he was two, he always stops them in the street to say hello.

"He loved being able to talk to them and show them his uniform.

"I'm glad he's got the police as role models. I could see him being in the police when he's older, I think he's got the personality for it.

"The officers are amazing examples of what proper community policing should be and it's very stressful for kids at the moment and Isaac summed it up by saying it was the highlight of the week."

There were visits for others too during Sgt Dawson's shift, but this time to remind people about the lockdown.

He tweeted: "So far we have attended 11 calls across Medway and local towns re-enforcing the government's message around social gatherings and social distancing. #StayHomeSaveLives"
