Witnesses claimed the victim, who was taken to hospital after the attack, confronted the teens who were damaging vehicles in the area before being attacked with a bottle.

Another resident said the road was shut off following the incident.

"It was literally at end of my road, everything's blocked and you have to be escorted out your house if you live within the taped off bit," she said.

Police carried out a search of the area and arrested two boys, aged 16 and 14, on suspicion of assault.

Both remain in custody as inquiries continues.
