A town centre has seen a flurry of new openings with more to come.

Two bubble tea stores, an Italian restaurant and a sandwich shop have either opened in Gravesend or are due to open soon.

Only weeks after the town got a new bubble tea store, another is set to open this weekend.

Multea Choice – which has stores in the Netherlands, Tolworth and Wimbledon in London – will be holding an official opening on Saturday with a soft launch the day before.

The store sells authentic Taiwanese teas and will be offering its first 50 customers a free drink and then half-price drinks on Saturday.

Boba, also known as bubble tea, is a tea-based drink which became popular in Taiwan in the 1980s.

It is made by blending a brew with milk, fruit and fruit juices, then adding tapioca pearls and shaking vigorously.

Located in the former Carpet Time in King Street, there will also be a lion dance performance at midday.

It will be the second bubble tea shop to open in the town centre as family-run business Boba Town welcomed customers on May 6.

A spokesman said of their first weekend: "It was madness. We had queues going out into the shopping centre and security had to be called out to separate customers into lines.

"We have had really good feedback from everyone and they are all loving the recipes. It was a good weekend.

"We ran out of stock too as we did not expect it to be so crazy. We had more than 100 orders on the first day, people were ordering 10 to 15 per person."

The new store is now offering takeaway orders and desserts on UberEats, JustEat and Deliveroo . It can be found at 39b Kempthorne Street in the St George's Centre.

Italian restaurant Da Rosario is also due to open in former Pantheon Italian in King Street although no date has yet been revealed.

Further out in the borough, sandwich shop Crumbs 2 has also found a home at The Gravesend Boat in Leander Drive, Riverview after it closed its doors in King Street last year.

Boss Debbie Hellier said: "It has been crazy and overwhelming. At the moment people have to be patient as we have gone from a big shop to a little premises but everyone appreciates us being back.

"It is wonderful. I have seen customers who I have not seen in many years. We have had so much support, it has been unbelievable.

"I did not know what to expect so I guessed how much bread we would need. We ran out on the first two days and had to close early one day."
