Commuters faced delays and cancellations following urgent repairs on a main train line to the capital.
Passengers catching services running through Ebbsfleet International and Stratford International had their journey delayed by up to 30 minutes.
Southeastern warned trains between these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
Many high speed services between Faversham and London did not run between Rochester, Gravesend, Ebbsfleet International and London St Pancras International.
London Underground accepted tickets for reasonable routes.
Emergency engineering work took place in one tunnel between Ebbsfleet and Stratford, meaning trains could use only one line to travel in either direction.
Many trains were held at either side of the tunnel whilst trains pass in the opposite direction.
Network Rail staff worked on the problem.
The disruption lasted until about 2pm.
