Twins who have given more than 100 years of their lives combined to Kent football have been honoured by the Kent FA.
Cyril and Len Burrluck, 77, received Long and Meritorious Awards at the Kent County FA’s annual meeting on Saturday.
The pair started playing football at Colyer Road School in Northfleet in 1944.
After leaving school, Cyril joined the Northfleet Youth Club and went on to represent Kent, even taking part in a tour of Germany.
He pursued a career as an electrician after his father refused to let him sign for Brentford and after stints at Grays Athletic and Thameside Amateurs, Cyril entered the Kent Sunday Football League in 1964 with Hollisters FC. He remains part of the league’s management committee after 66 years in the game, 46 of those dedicated to one club.
Len has been a referee for 45 years and is also chairman of North Kent Sunday League team Milton & Denton.
He began playing in the Gravesend League before taking up refereeing in 1965 and being promoted to class one in 1971. He continues to referee in the Gravesend League and the North Kent Sunday League.
