Two men have died and a woman has been seriously injured after a crash involving a taxi in Northfleet.
It happened just after midnight on the A226 Thames Way, between Springhead Road and the A2260.
Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, who were travelling in a silver Audi A3 were involved in a collision with a black Citroen Dispatch taxi.
The passenger inside the Audi was declared dead at the scene while the driver was taken to a London hospital where he later died.
A woman inside the taxi was also taken to a London hospital via air ambulance where she remains in a serious condition. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The driver of the taxi was taken to local hospital as a precaution.
The road was closed this morning as crash investigators examined the scene.
Springhead Road resident Jean Aboua, 23, says he saw police cars outside his house, by the roundabout, around midnight.
He added: "I just saw the police car, I didn't really see what happened. Most people didn't know."
Officers from the police’s serious collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses and would like to talk to anyone who saw either vehicle in the moments before the collision.
Motorists with dash cam footage are also being sought.
The next of kin of the two deceased men have been made aware.
Witnesses can call police on 01622 798 538, quoting reference HW/DS/80/20.
