An Indian restaurant owner is having to pay up for repairs after what appeared to be an attempted break-in.

Police are investigating after the front door window of Anisa Indian Cuisine in Gravesend Road, Higham, was left damaged in the early hours of the morning.

Enamul Chowdhury, who has run the restaurant for the past three years, said he didn’t know why anyone would want to target his business.

“It’s a very good area and there’s never been any problems or incidents, but it’s very upsetting,” said the 38-year-old, who lives in Northfleet.

“I have very good customers and I have never had a problem with a customer before. It’s going to be quite costly to repair.”

Mr Chowdhury runs the restaurant with the help of friends and family, and one member of staff was sleeping upstairs when they were woken by the sound of someone smashing the front door window between 3am and 3.30am last Thursday, February 2.

They opened the bedroom window to see what was happening and were spotted by the vandal, who then ran off.

No suspects have been identified and no arrests made.
