Power station explosion was visible from Gravesend

People watched as a power station was blown up.

This was the twelfth planned explosion at Tilbury Power Station in the past two years.

People standing on the southern river bank at Gravesend could see three structures came crashing down at 10am this morning.

That included the *D Pass Precipitator No 7 measuring 17.4m long by 9.3m wide by 30m high.

The other DA Bay for Units 7&8 were 113m long, 17.5m wide and 44m high.

During the demolition no public access was allowed on the northern bank of the river, to keep everyone safe.

There will be more explosions throughout the year and into 2019 as other main structures, including Boiler House 7 and 8, are scheduled to be brought down.
