Hot weather and a piece of glass caused a house fire in Cruden Road, Gravesend
08:29, 22 July 2018
A piece of glass is thought to have caused a fire in a pile of rubbish.
Crews were called to a house in Cruden Road, Gravesend, at 3.50pm.
The fire had started in a pile of rubbish but spread to a lean-to outbuilding attached to the side of the house.
Following investigations, fire fighters believe it was started by the sun’s ray through a piece of glass.
No injuries were reported and the fire service would like to urge people to clear away household waste in the garden, or close to the house, because of the fire risk.
Crews were stood down at 4.02pm.
