Ebbsfleet United's Blue Square Bet South promotion-push stalled as they went down 3-2 at Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.
Callum Willock put Fleet ahead on 16 minutes however the hosts levelled just three minutes later through Kane Ingram.
Just five minutes after the break Sahr Kabba put Weston ahead and Nat Pepperell made it 3-1 seven minutes from time.
Despite Willock (pictured) setting up a tense finale with Fleet's second three minutes from time the defeat saw Fleet fall to fourth, eight points off the top and only two clear of the sides outside the play-off zone.
The Fleet travel to Welling for a Kent derby on Tuesday night.
