Woman trapped in car after crash on A2 near Southfleet

Four people were injured and a woman freed from her vehicle after a crash between a car and a lorry.

Emergency services were called to the smash on the A2 coast bound carriageway at about 1.15am, near the junction for Pepper Hill.

Two fire engines attended and crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove a car door to free the trapped woman.

South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman, Rich Airey, said: "Four people were assessed and treated at the scene and at least three of these were taken to hospital for further treatment.

"One patient was taken to Darent Valley Hospital and two patients were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital."

Kent Police spokesman Andy Saunders said: "We were called at around 12.55am this morning to a collision on the coastbound A2 near the exit for the A227.

"Officers attended and no serious injuries were reported."

Fire crews made the scene safe before leaving shortly after 2.10am.
