A yellow weather warning has been issued across parts of north Kent today as winds reach speeds of up to 50mph.

The Met Office has said to expect disruption in an area from Bristol over to Norwich and stretching down into parts of Kent including Gravesend, Dartford, the Medway Towns, Snodland, most of the Isle of Sheppey, Westerham and Orpington.

Gusty winds are expected throughout Thursday with some road, rail and air transport delays likely.

Winds are expected to strengthen across central England this morning with gusts of around 45-50mph.

A few places could see winds reach as high as 55mph.

It is expected to ease from the west this afternoon but the warning is in place until 6pm.
