Potential Wimbledon heroes of the future have been warming up their groundstrokes at Gravesham Tennis Club.
With just two days to go before the start of the world’s greatest tennis tournament these youngsters were hitting some of their first volleys on Saturday at the club in Milton Road, Gravesend.
Wimbledon gets under way today (Monday), with number 3 seed Andy Murray due to take on Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
Murray fever will see others picking up a racquet too.
“We tend to get an increase of about 30-40 new players at this time of year,” said club chairman Lorna Pender, who said the club had a number of rising stars. “I don’t like to put any of the children on a pedestal but we’ve got some nice little young players.
“Some will go on to be county level.”
