Nathan Ashmore's outstanding recent form has got people talking about the Ebbsfleet goalkeeper again.

Ashmore pulled off a fabulous save late in the game on Tuesday to earn Fleet a point against Hartlepool.

He was a spectator for much of the evening but showed great concentration and reflexes to keep Nicke Kabamba's shot out of the top corner.

"Nathan Ashmore made a very important save again," said Fleet boss Garry Hill. "Nathan Ashmore, at the moment, is playing very well.

"In the few games we’ve had recently, he hasn’t had too much to do but what he has had to do (he's done well).

"I’m talking about the Solihull Moors game, Leyton Orient, Harrogate and the important save he’s made here on Tuesday night.

"Performances like that, there’s no secret a lot of people will be admiring the way Nathan Ashmore has been playing over the last four or five games after a lot’s gone on with Nathan Ashmore where there’s been a big test of his character and temperament.

"He’s been absolutely superb when he’s been called upon at important stages of a match.

"He’s been the difference between sometimes one point and nothing or three points and one."

Ashmore has been racially abused by supporters this season and he was confronted by angry pitch invaders at Chesterfield in January.

He admitted some of the abuse made him want to stop playing, with messages from social media trolls affecting him at home.

But the 29-year-old, who's made 155 appearances since joining Ebbsfleet three years ago, now looks back to his best between the posts.
