Ebbsfleet boss Steve Brown praised the character of his players after they ended a three-game winless streak in "emphatic" fashion at Gosport on Thursday.

Brown's side arrived at Privett Park having picked up just one point from their previous three outings and having lost back-to-back games.

But they withstood early pressure and dominated the rest of the game at Gosport, with goals from Billy Bricknell and Daryl McMahon clinching the points.

Brown said: "We'd gone draw-loss-loss, so anything other than a win and we were looking over our shoulder again. That tells me I’ve got character, I’ve got spirit, I’ve got morale, I’ve got togetherness. We had to come here and win and we’ve done that.

"That was emphatic for me. The game should have been long dead at half-time.

"We had enough chances to be three or four in front against a side that are difficult to play against. They’re on a good run of form, if you look at the table. They were stone bottom a few weeks back but they’ve climbed out of that relegation zone.

"I had almost every individual battle on the pitch won by us, whereas on Saturday (at Boreham Wood) I had almost every individual battle lost. That was the difference tonight.

"It was a really important night to get three points on the board. I shall look at the table and there’s a nice gap now. We’ve got a great opportunity, in 36 hours or so, to put another three points on the board. Hopefully we get another performance like that. We’ve bounced back in the right manner."

Brown made four changes to his starting XI, two of them enforced, and he praised the players who came in and impressed.

He said: "I’m going to give massive praise to Michael Corcoran. I thought he was immense in the centre of midfield.

"Osei Sankofa’s come into the backline and controlled the backline. We looked solid again. The first 10 minutes was a bit hairy-scary but after that, I thought the backline did well.

"It’s hard picking people out of that performance. Joe Howe’s come in after being very disappointed on Saturday. I made a tactical change there and it was hard to take for Joe. But he came back in and was absolutely magnificent.

"There were so many good performances."
