Ebbsfleet defender Yado Mambo this week announced he was looking for a new club – but he didn’t tell manager Steve Brown.

Mambo, who missed the end of last season with a knee injury, was offered the chance by Brown to prove his fitness over the summer and earn a contract at Stonebridge Road.

He turned up for the Fleet’s first training session at Cobdown but hasn’t been back. And on Monday he tweeted: "Looking for a team is so hard man! Gotta stay positive."

It was news to Brown. He said: "That’s Yado’s decision. Not once did he say to me ‘thanks very much but I’m going to try somewhere else.’ It’s the modern way, that things are communicated by social media.

"We hadn’t offered Yado a contract, so it was his choice. A lot of things seem to be done through social media these days. Telling your 500 followers what you’re doing seems to be more important.

"I’m not disappointed or angry, it’s just the modern-day culture. Things have moved on, with Twitter and Facebook, and it can be dangerous.

"I left the door open for Yado to come back to pre-season. We sent Yado all the information we sent to the other players. He was fully aware of when we were starting, where the training ground was and he was included in all the texts regarding kit.

"He came in for the first training session and we didn’t see him again."
