Ebbsfleet need a win at Concord Rangers tonight (Tuesday) to keep themselves on course for the Skrill South play-offs.

A 3-1 defeat for the Fleet at Sutton United on Saturday allowed the clubs chasing them to close the gap in the race for a top-five finish.

Fifth-placed Havant & Waterlooville are now just two points back with a game in hand.

And Concord still harbour play-off ambitions of their own, sitting five points outside the top five but having played fewer games than all the sides above them.

Fleet boss Steve Brown said: "It’s a massive game, isn’t it? It’s a huge game, a game we’ve got to win.

"Danny Cowley (the Concord manager) has done a wonderful job there. History suggests that unless you’ve got a big budget coming out of the Ryman League, you tend to struggle. Look at Hornchurch and Billericay, who both got relegated last season.

"Danny’s done a wonderful job on a very tight budget and he deserves an awful lot of credit for what he does. He has everybody watched and I’ve got a lot of time for someone who does that.

"We played them here (at Stonebridge Road) and we won 4-0. But we know it's going to be tough there. It’s a tight pitch there and they play a high-pressure system. But if we produce like we did at Gosport (when Fleet won 2-0), we know we can get a result."

Dean Rance is a doubt ahead of the game, the midfielder having had treatment yesterday on the leg injury which kept him out of the Sutton game.
