Jamie Day hailed a great team effort after Ebbsfleet reached the FA Trophy quarter-finals on Tuesday night.

Goals from Danny Kedwell and Adam Cunnington clinched a 2-0 win over Conference side Braintree at the PHB Stadium and the Fleet boss praised his strikers - and their team-mates.

Day said: "I’m pleased for both of them because they worked their socks off and they both got goals.

"I felt the midfield worked their socks off, Stuart Lewis, Johnno (Matt Johnson) when he came on, Theo (Lewis), they all put a good shift in.

"I thought Dean Pooley was fantastic. I said when I first came here that when we get the right players, it’s a squad that gets you where you want to be and Deano was the prime example of that on Tuesday.

"Anthony (Acheampong) came in and did well, so I’m pleased for all of them. Preston (Edwards) pulled off a good save at a vital stage, so they’ve all played their part and deserved to get into the next round."

Ebbsfleet now travel to North Ferriby in the last-eight on Saturday.

Day said: "The boys are really happy and I’m happy for them. They’ve put in a great shift in the last three games - and before that - and if you work hard, you get your rewards.

"I’m really pleased for them. I won’t let them dwell on it too long because we’ve got to worry about Saturday but they can be pleased with what they’ve done and we’ll work them again on Thursday and Friday."
