ELIOT MARTIN stayed cool under pressure to help deliver Gravesend and Northfleet's fifth straight win in the Ryman League, Premier Division. With Saturday's match finely balanced, Martin stepped up in the 56th minute to score a fourth penalty of the season to send the Fleet on their way to hard-earned win.

Referee Alan Legg pointed to the spot when Kingstonian right-back Eddiah Dyah shoved Jimmy Jackson. Martin ignored the goalline antics of former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Lance Key to send him the wrong way.

Five minutes later, Fleet sealed victory when the referee played an excellent advantage after Craig Wilkins was fouled. The striker stayed on his feet to cross for Paul Booth to head the ball back for skipper Jackson to finish.

Fleet manager Andy Ford said: "We didn't give a Rolls-Royce performance but we've taken three points and kept a clean sheet against a side unbeaten in their last five games. "Eliot had a lot to contend with as their goalkeeper was trying everything to distract him but he stayed cool under pressure.

"I didn't ask him to do the job, he just took over after Jimmy Jackson had missed a couple. These things are sorted on the field." Victory stretched the Fleet's unbeaten run in all competitions to 11 games.

Gravesend: Turner; Lee, Duku, Burton, Martin; Smith, McKimm, Owen (Lye 79 mins), Jackson; Booth (Hatch 79 mins), Wilkins. Substitute not used: Skinner.

Attendance: 691.
