Ebbsfleet United manager Dennis Kutrieb says Dominic Poleon’s transition from National South to National League striker will be intriguing

Dennis Kutrieb is “curious” to see how star striker Dominic Poleon fares in the National League.
The Ebbsfleet frontman, who bagged 36 goals last season, has extended his contract with the club.
There’s no guarantee about the goals he can deliver, but Fleet boss Kutrieb is looking forward to seeing a confident Poleon step up another level.
“It will be very interesting,” he said. “It’s a completely new challenge and I’m very curious about how he is ready for this.
“It’s all about him, he needs to make the right decisions and how he wants to approach the game and progress.
“You could see he was kind of unstoppable last season but there were still games where he could have done better.
“Everyone might be happy with 36 goals but him and me, we both know that there were more goals possible. We’re not being unhappy or moaning about it, or being disrespectful, that’s just the honest truth.
“I’m just curious how he approaches the next season, scores goals, makes assists and improves on and off the pitch. It’s interesting that we can keep working together.”
Poleon will miss the first game of the new season through suspension, while strike partner Rakish Bingham will be sidelined for much longer as he recovers from an Achilles injury.
Kutrieb won’t be setting a timeframe for Bingham’s return, and is happy to play the patient game.
“He is progressing well and is very happy with where he is at, at this moment,” said Kutrieb.
“As I said already after the injury, I’m far away from putting any pressure on him and giving timeframes. He needs to make sure that he recovers and is happy.
“I wouldn’t rush him even though everyone knows how much I like him as a player and how much I would like to have him in pre-season.
“This is something that obviously won’t happen so I’m just relaxed and will give him the time that he needs.”
