Stacy Long and Osei Sankofa have rejoined Ebbsfleet United as academy coaches.

Long, who lifted the FA Trophy as a Fleet player in 2008, will be lead development phase coach, responsible for youngsters from under-13 to under-16 level.

Meanwhile, former Charlton defender Sankofa will be in charge of the under-9 to under-12 age groups in a new-look youth set-up at the north Kent club.

Both men played for Ebbsfleet in 2013/14 but were released by Steve Brown just over a year ago.

Ebbsfleet's academy had previously been run by new first-team boss Daryl McMahon, who has been succeeded as youth team manager by former Watford and Dagenham coach Gerard Prenderville.

From this season, the Fleet youth sides will be based at Wrotham School.

Dean Pooley, released from the first-team squad last month, has taken on the role of academy administrator but Steve Watt - who worked alongside McMahon last season - has left his No.2 role having agreed a new playing deal with Fleet's local rivals Maidstone United.

Ebbsfleet vice-chairman Peter Varney said: "It is our long-term objective to develop an academy that produces young talent for the first team. We have already signed five youth team players on full contracts and they will be loaned out to gain much-needed experience.

"Daryl McMahon did a brilliant job in establishing the youth team last season and he will continue to oversee the academy but the appointments of Gerard, Stacy and Osei will provide vital support and they all bring with them excellent coaching credentials and a passion and enthusiasm for developing young players."
