Gravesend & N 1 Tooting & Mitcham 2
GRAVESEND & Northfleet's run in the Isthmian League Cup came to an end at the third round stage when they went down to a shock home defeat against Tooting & Mitcham last night.
Andy Ford's side, who haven't lost on their own patch since the opening home game of the season against Chesham, paid the price for underestimating the Ryman League Division One mid-table outfit.
Tooting more than matched the Premier Division high-flyers and deservedly took the lead on 51 minutes when Nigel Webb converted a penalty kick, awarded after a foul on Elliot Onochie by Aaron Barnett. The strike forced Gravesend to lift their game and after bringing on Steve McKimm, Andy Booth and Jimmy Jackson they levelled the scores on 65 minutes with a Francis Duku header - the big centre-back's third goal in the last four games.
However, the visitors grabbed the winner just four minutes from time when the ball was deflected into the path of Webb, who coolly rounded the goalkeeper before slotting his second goal.
Gravesend: Blake, Lee, Duku, Barnett, Skinner, Smith (Booth), Lye (McKimm), Owen, Martin (Jackson), Hatch, Stadhart.
