Excitement is building ahead of Tuesday's Kent derby between Maidstone and Ebbsfleet.

In the first league fixture between the clubs for more than 30 years, Stones will be looking to build on their impressive opening-day win at Sutton while Fleet also come into the clash with three points to their name having beaten Basingstoke at the weekend.

Ebbsfleet manager Daryl McMahon said: "It’s not just another game, it’s a derby and we're really looking forward to it.

"I used to enjoy playing in derbies and I think every one of our boys, once they get down to Maidstone on Tuesday night and see the amount of people in the ground and hear the noise in the ground, I think they’ll be very excited by it.

"We know what Maidstone are about, we had them watched on Saturday and in pre-season.

"I know a lot of the players, obviously Watty (Steve Watt) worked here last season and we go into it looking forward to it. It’ll be a good crowd, a Kent derby and we’re excited about it."

Winger Sean Shields could return for the Fleet after missing the Basingstoke game with an ankle problem but the game will come too soon for midfielder Stuart Lewis (knee).

The match is segregated, with 250 travelling fans among a crowd of up to 2,363.
