Steve Brown wants the Ebbsfleet supporters to start making as much noise as their Wealdstone counterparts.

Monday’s game between the teams at the PHB Stadium was played out to the sound of constant singing and chanting by the travelling fans from north-west London. It finished 0-0 after Ebbsfleet, who had captain Daryl McMahon sent-off, were forced to play for 55 minutes with 10 men.

Brown, the Fleet manager, said: "Wealdstone had about 100 travelling fans and they did not stop supporting their side. I had 10 lads out there, giving everything they’ve got in their bodies and I didn’t hear (our fans) at all, which is unlike us. We got drowned out by 100 Wealdstone fans.

"If ever there was a performance I think deserved a bit of backing, that was it right there.

"We didn’t get the win but in terms of the performance, I thought that was a good, disciplined, solid, hard-working performance to not get beat. I didn’t think it got the support it deserved.

"There was no negativity in the ground but the definition of support is exactly what the Wealdstone fans did on Monday. We were 10v11 and the Wealdstone supporters showed a brilliant attitude towards supporting their team.

"I’m not criticising ours, I’m just saying it does make a difference. You bang your drum, you get behind the lads and that might be the difference in someone’s mentality on the pitch, just getting that five-yard run back into shape or making a challenge."
