GRAVESEND & Northfleet manager Andy Ford is ready to hot up the competition for first choice Jamie Turner by signing another goalkeeper.
The Fleet boss has his eye on two unnamed goalkeepers, both with Conference clubs. Hopes that a deal would be concluded before Ford left for a two-week holiday were dashed, though the club will try to finalise a signing on the manager's return.
Meanwhile, the club are awaiting the outcome of an FA investigation into the affairs of Conference champions Boston following allegations of financial irregularities.
Should they be found guilty they may forfeit newly-won Nationwide League status and face relegation.
Conference runners-up Dagenham and Redbridge could be promoted or Halifax reinstated after being relegated from Division 3.
Mr Edwards said: “Obviously we're watching every development with interest. We're due to play Dagenham in our first home game of the new season, so that could be scrapped.
We're due at Halifax on November 2 and that could be cancelled.
“There is all manner of speculation going the rounds, even that Boston face relegation to the Dr Martens League, East Division. I just hope that we're not subjected to big fixtures changes.”
FLEET are looking for help on matchdays. The club require stewards, programme sellers and turnstile operators. For further details contact commercial director Rob Grindley on 01474 533796.
