Ebbsfleet want to extend Andy Pugh's loan spell from Cambridge United.
The striker is struggling with an ankle injury he picked up during the Fleet's 6-1 win at Sittingbourne in the Kent Senior Cup.
And Pugh definitely won't play against Eastbourne Borough in the FA Cup on Saturday because his parent club don't want him cup-tied.
Ebbsfleet boss Steve Brown expects him to be fit in time for the visit of Gosport on October 19, the day on which Pugh’s current loan deal ends.
That would only be the 24-year-old's second league appearance in Fleet colours.
Brown said: "We would love to have Andy Pugh back. It’s a no-brainer but it’s whether Cambridge want to loan him out for another month.
"They haven’t got out of the month what they wanted, which was for Andy Pugh to play games.
"He fits in nicely here. He works hard and he’s a natural goalscorer."
