Ebbsfleet United striker Bradley Bubb feels he's reaching his peak after joining the club from Oxford City

Bradley Bubb has fired a warning to National League South defenders after joining Ebbsfleet.

The 28-year-old became manager Daryl McMahon’s fourth summer recruit – and fourth striker – when he signed a deal at Stonebridge Road last Thursday.

Bubb scored 24 goals for Oxford City last season and plans to do more damage this time around.

He said: "I like to go in behind, spin round the channels, get the ball to feet and I can mix it up, give defenders a troubled game. It won’t be easy for any defenders to come across me.

"I’m 28 now and people say you start to peak at 28 or 29. Last year I scored a lot of goals, so hopefully that is me starting to peak."

Bubb, who scored a stoppage-time penalty to deny Ebbsfleet victory at Marsh Lane in February, was a man in demand once the season had finished.

He said: "We were trying to sort out a deal at Oxford. I spoke to a few other clubs as well but once Daryl texted me, I thought that would be the right decision for me, to train three mornings a week.

"They’re building the new stand and (moving to a) new training ground so I was sold on the opportunity.

"I know a few of the players as well, so hopefully I settle in quickly and score some goals."

Bubb faces stiff competition from Danny Kedwell, Charlie Sheringham and Aaron McLean and he’s up for the challenge.

He said: "It’s healthy. I know those names from being around football and they’re all different sorts of players. I can learn from all of them."

McMahon, who played with Bubb at Farnborough and Eastleigh, said: "Bubby’s a proven goalscorer at this level and he’s totally different to what we’ve got.

"He can go in behind or be a target man. Even though he’s short, he’s strong and uses his body well. He’s buzzing to come here, to prove himself."
