Ebbsfleet United face Hampton & Richmond Borough in National League South play-off first leg

00:00, 03 May 2017

Ebbsfleet will attack Hampton & Richmond in their first leg of their play-off semi-final on Wednesday night.

Top scorers in the regular season with 96 goals, Fleet head to south-west London unbeaten in 20 league games since the turn of the year.

The tie won't be settled until Sunday's second leg at Stonebridge Road but McMahon has promised a positive approach as Ebbsfleet bid to reach a third final in four years.

He said: "I think we’re good enough to go and attack anyone and that’ll be our approach.

"We go into every game with confidence because of the run we’ve been on.

"Hampton are very athletic, they’ll be well-organised by Alan Dowson and it’ll be a tough game."

Both league games between the two sides finished 1-1. Bradley Bubb, who misses the play-offs through injury, scored a late goal to rescue a point for Ebbsfleet when they travelled to the Beveree in March.

McMahon said: "We know it’s a tough place to go.

"The pitch is not the best and they’ll probably make it as bad as they can for us like they did last time - because they admitted it after the game.

"The points tally and whatever else doesn’t matter now. It’s irrelevant.

"It doesn’t matter that we finished however many points (27) ahead of them. It’s a level playing field and that’s how we’ve got to approach it."

Hampton finished seventh in National League South but qualified for the play-offs because ground grading issues at Poole (fifth) and Hungerford (sixth) meant they couldn't take part.

The Beavers are chasing back-to-back promotions having won the Ryman League Premier Division a year ago.

Kick-off at the Beveree is 7.45pm with tickets available on the gate, priced £12 adults, £7 concessions, £3 under-16s and free for under-5s.
