Boss Daryl McMahon expecting to reduce his Ebbsfleet squad after signing James Alabi and Lawrie Wilson

Some players are set to leave Ebbsfleet following the acquisition of James Alabi and Lawrie Wilson this week.

Striker Alabi joins from Tranmere having been on loan at Dover while full-back Wilson arrives from League 2 side Port Vale.

Fleet boss Daryl McMahon said: “We’ve got a couple that will probably go out the other way over the next few weeks. We’re just trying to tinker with the squad and build it up going forward.

“When good players become available, like Lawrie and James, it’s important that we move to strengthen the squad and evolve it when we can.”

Wilson made his Fleet debut in the 2-1 win at Maidstone on Tuesday while Alabi watched from the stands.

McMahon said: “Lawrie gives us another attacking dimension from a deeper position.

“He’s got experience, he’s a winner and I thought he had a good game considering he hadn’t met anyone until he got on the bus. We’ve tried to get him a couple of times but it’s difficult to get a player with that CV.”

Alabi scored 17 goals for Chester in 2016/17, earning himself a big move to Prenton Park.

McMahon said: “He’s 23 and the right sort of profile for us. Hopefully, James can rediscover the form he had at Chester and even get better.

"He’s a real talent, a proven player and hungry to be better than he was last year. He’s not had a great six months at Tranmere and Dover and he wants to kick on again.”

Alabi is cup-tied for Fleet’s FA Trophy second-round tie at home to Warrington Town on Saturday.
