Striker Rakish Bingham has had successful surgery, Ebbsfleet manager Dennis Kutrieb has confirmed.
The Fleet talisman was injured in the second half of their televised 1-0 win at Slough in National League South last month.
It’s feared Bingham could be out for up to six months but boss Kutrieb is backing him to return sooner than expected.
“He had surgery on Tuesday,” said Kutrieb. “They did his Achilles, the surgery went well and for now it’s rehab for him.
“He’s a good human being and I wish him just the very best.
“I am convinced he will be back quicker than everyone thinks at the moment because he will work very hard. I’m convinced he will surprise us.
“The surgery went well, he is alright, he will be there on Friday and that’s the most important thing.
“I can’t paint any big pictures at the moment but the small picture is the surgery went fine and that’s most important for now.”
Ebbsfleet can win the National League South title if they avoid defeat at home to Oxford City on Good Friday.
They will also be crowned champions if they lose and Dartford fail to win at Eastbourne.
“I’m very much looking forward to it,” said Kutrieb. “We’ve worked hard for nine or 10 months, every single day.
“So, when you see the day is coming when you can really achieve something in the record books then I’m really excited.
“I can’t wait, I wish we were playing today and not waiting until Friday.
“We need to make sure we are calm and composed and don’t get nervous or whatever, which is something I can’t see with these boys but you never know because it’s an occasion.
“We need to play the game and not the occasion.”
