Darren McQueen has joined Ebbsfleet on a season-long loan from Maldon & Tiptree.
The pacy midfielder has impressed on trial and featured in all of Fleet's pre-season friendlies so far.
He becomes manager Daryl McMahon's sixth new signing of the summer.
McQueen, 21, started his career in Tottenham's youth system before spending a year at Ipswich.
Last season he scored 17 goals in 39 games for Maldon, who have a partnership with Colchester United of League 2.
Speaking last week, McMahon said: "I know a few people who work at Colchester and he did well last year at Maldon & Tiptree on loan. Colchester have got a feeder club, their under-21s play at Maldon & Tiptree and he scored goals last year for Maldon from left wing.
"They’re looking to get him at a higher level so I had a phone call at the end of last season and I thought we could have a look at him."
