GRAVESEND & Northfleet's twice postponed Umbro FA Trophy, third round, tie goes ahead tonight at Histon after the Football Association intervened over the Cambridge club's problem pitch.
Fleet officials were furious at last week's late decision to call the game off and at the club's request the FA sent a representative to inspect the pitch. "His verdict was that the pitch was playable," said Fleet secretary Roly Edwards. "We made representation to the FA and we're pleased that they have become involved in getting the tie played."
Manager Andy Ford will make changes to tonight's squad as newcomers Warren Williams and Simon Parker are cup-tied.
Gravesend: Turner; (from) Lee, Martin, Burton, Duku, McKimm, Lye, Smith, Jackson, Stadhart, Wilkins, Booth.
