Transfer business at Ebbsfleet United is complete for the time being.

Fleet manager Jamie Day has signed nine players since he succeeded Steve Brown in December - and Cambridge United defender Tom Bonner will complete his move to the PHB Stadium on Monday.

Meanwhile, seven players have left the club - two on loan - in the last couple of weeks, leaving Day with 27 players in his first-team squad.

Speaking after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Sutton, Day said: "I’m glad the week’s over and we can now concentrate on the squad of boys that we’ve got from now until the end of the season.

"I think maybe the boys that are here, they can relax now and they’re the boys that we want to keep.

"I’m glad it’s done and there will be no more transfers now. We can work with the boys we’ve brought in. Everyone knows this is the squad that we want to keep, so hopefully we’ll get the boys going again on Monday."

So no more players will be let go this week?

"I don’t see it," Day said. "I think we need to close it now. The weekend’s done, Tom Bonner’s in on Monday and I think that’s it. Everyone knows the position and I don’t think people need to panic. We look forward now to getting the boys working together.

"You’d like to do all of your business in pre-season and add one or two through the course of the season to strengthen when you need to. But obviously we’ve done it in a short space of time and had one big hit."

Ebbsfleet visit Braintree in the third round of the FA Trophy on Saturday before resuming their Vanarama Conference South promotion push the following weekend.

Another away game, against Gosport Borough, marks the Fleet's return to league action on January 31.

Day said: "It’s done now and we’ve got two weeks, in my eyes, to prepare for the league game and work with the boys.

"The Trophy, for me, is a bonus. We want to get as far as we possibly can but it might work in our favour that we’ve got that Trophy game now."
