Ebou Adams hailed Ebbsfleet’s "unbreakable" team spirit after securing a move to the Football League this week.

Adams signed a two-year deal at Forest Green on Tuesday after the League 2 club paid Fleet an undisclosed fee for the Gambia midfielder.

The 23-year-old only spent a year at Stonebridge Road but will never forget the support of his team-mates in tough times.

“The togetherness was unbreakable,” said Adams.

“Everyone wanted to stay together and I thought that bond was unbreakable.

“Sticking by each other and helping each other out in cases of personal stuff, things happening at home, that shows a lot.

“They’re the people you want around you and it helps you become a better person. If it wasn’t for them lot, I probably wouldn’t be where I am.”

Off-field problems challenged Adams in ways he couldn’t have imagined when he arrived from Norwich last summer.

He said: “It definitely wasn’t easy but we kept together as a team and did really well. That stuff stayed off the pitch and we did what we did on the pitch.

“I wouldn’t wish it on any player but it happened and hopefully it gets resolved. Mentally, it definitely makes you stronger.

“When you’ve got the backing of your team-mates helping you, being there for you, and the fans supporting you no matter what, it helps you massively as a person and a player.”

Adams started 29 league games for Ebbsfleet and made a total of 40 appearances under managers Daryl McMahon and Garry Hill.

He said: “It was very eventful, loads of ups and downs and I learned a lot.

“I’ve matured a lot as a player. There’s things I would have done years before, diving in and getting a lot more silly yellow cards (but I reduced that).

“I’d like to thank the players and the fans for making me feel welcome.

“Vying for a couple of spots in midfield with players like Rancey, Jukebox and Paynie really helped improve my game.

“Now I can put all that financial stuff behind me and concentrate on a fresh start.

“I didn’t doubt myself when I got released from Norwich. I always kept working hard and knew my chance would come.

“It’s a chance to show the world what I can really do and just enjoy myself now.

“Forest Green have got good plans. I’ve loved what I’ve heard from the gaffer and I’m excited to get on board with it.”
