Gravesend 32 Sidcup 25
Four tries and 10 points from the boot of Gary Gray helped Gravesend to a 32-25 win in London 2 at Sidcup on Saturday.
Sox Stevens, Tom Bishop John Clement and Tony Nolan scored for the visitors with Gray adding two penalties and three conversions. Sidcup responded with six penalties by Richard Evans, and a late try by Richard Clarke which Evans converted.
Stevens crashed over for the first, and then Bishop went over for an excellent score, Gray landing the conversion from close to the touchline to put Gravesend 14-0 ahead.
Three penalties by outside half Evans reduced the deficit to five points, before Gray (two) and Evans landed another trio of successful kicks as Gravesend led 24-12 at half-time.
Two more Evans penalties made it 24-18, before Clement scored Gravesend’s third try in the corner, finishing off good work by Nolan, and Ziggy Stevens Evans then kicked another penalty, before Nolan crossed for a great opportunist score, again converted by Gray.
Sidcup waited until injury time for their first try of the game, scrum-half Clarke displaying good speed to score between the posts, Evans converting.
