Cinderford 0 Gravesend & N 2
GRAVESEND & Northfleet maintained their excellent record in cup competitions over the past year by progressing through to the third round of the FA Trophy with a hrad fought victory at Cinderford. Andy Ford's team were always up against it on a difficult boggy pitch and needed the introduction of young substitute Liam Hatch in the second half to clinch the win.
In the opening period, both sides struggled to cope with the conditions and as a result clear-cut chances were few and far between.
After the interval, the game followed a similar pattern until Hatch added a bit of quality to the Gravesend attack when he came off the bench on 57 minutes.
Within 60 seconds the Fleet teenager started the move that led to Craig Wilkins heading in Jimmy Jackson's precise cross at the far post. And with eight minutes remaining Hatch put the game beyond doubt with a crisp shot into the net from 15 yards after good work by Danny Lye and Jackson.
Gravesend: Turner, Burton (Lee 63), Skinner, Lye, Barnett, Duku, Smith, McKimm, Jackson, Wilkins, Booth (Hatch 56). Unused subs: Owen, Blake.
